Chairman's Report : Pat Huff reported on a successful and active year. Net funds had increased by just under £4000 in the year, with a current balance in the bank account of over £37,000.
Pat reported that the Plant Sale had been, as usual, very successful; Heritage Day, enjoying good weather, had generated good
income from the stalls and the tours; and The Quiz Night had been extremely well attended. The Chairman thanked all volunteers and caterers for their support in these events.
It was noted that the reconstruction of the Viewing Platform in the Knot Garden was completed during the past year, and that the Friends have provided funds for four new timber benches for The Knot Garden, located on the terrace.
Mike Allwright reported on activities by The Owners on improvements to the buildings, noting that The Friends had contributed £2900 to the cost of these activities over the year.
Congratulations to John Thelwall in being awarded the Mike Kiely Trophy this year. This award reflects John's Excellent service as Chairman of the Council over three years, and in his continuous and unfailing support in organising and participating in all the various activities of The Council.

In spite of the unfriendly weather, there were a good number of visitors to the Towers on the day, and a record number of tours on Heritage Day were purchased. Our volunteer tour guides were kept very busy. With good sales on the bric a brac, and plenty of tours the day, a useful contribution to the funding of The Friends was achieved.
Next Quiz Night will be held on Friday 13th April 2018.
8.00 PM in the main building.
Entry £5.00 per person
Conference Room at 8.00 pm
